What happens to aluminum when treated with radiation?

How would that radiation be produced? Is there more than one method of producing radiation-naturally occuring substances-are these altered or are they in their natural state and what causes them to be produced? What happens to aluminum when treated with radiation?
It becomes porous as atoms destroy the continuity of the structureWhat happens to aluminum when treated with radiation?
radiation can be produced by diff means.tht depends on your requirement and the experiment..

when u bombard radiations with alpha, beta, gamma or deuterons etc..kind of particles, elements may undergo artificial transmutation(the reactions in which an atom when bombarded with projectiles forms a new atom along with an ejectile)..that is changing into other elements..or species..

new species are formed here bcoz the changes undergo at the nuclear level.in normal chemical reactions, only electrons of elements participate and in nuclear reactions, nucleons participate...

for eg, if aluminium is bombarded with deuterium atom,it changes to silicon-28.

hope u r satisfied...best answer???!
