How long does radiation treatments last? and how long after surgery do they start?

what is the normal amount of time after surgery that Radiation starts and how long do u have to do it?How long does radiation treatments last? and how long after surgery do they start?
That definitely depends what cancer and what therapies have been decided up. Mine was 5 days a week for 6 weeks, with the last week with a boost, which is stronger radiation than the previous 5 weeks. I started a month after my surgery. You have to have time for your incision to heal.
There is no firm answer for that question. I had a lumpectomy and then 4 months of chemo. Then they waited a couple of weeks before they started my 5 weeks of radiation. Whatever your schedule, they will likely wait a bit after your chemo/surgery ends before they start radiation. They want to give your body a rest. And the length of your radiation is totally up to your oncologist, depending on your cancer. Talk to your health care specialists about this. How long does radiation treatments last? and how long after surgery do they start?
It depends on what your doctors say, I have to do radiation for 3 weeks 5 days a week. I haven't started yet I just finished chemo 2 weeks ago. I still have to do surgery. They said I don't need much radiation because everything is gone but i still have lymph nodes but there not active so i have to get rid of them.
You don't mention which cancer, but I had 6 weeks of radiation treatment for Breast Cancer. I am a slow healer, so my radiation didn't start until 5 weeks after my partial mastectomy. It depends on how quickly you heal, and how many weeks they want your radiation for.How long does radiation treatments last? and how long after surgery do they start?
Ask your doctor for sure. Most people get 6 weeks, which starts as soon after surgery as you are able. You have to be healed from surgery and not have an infection, because radiation can damage the skin so bad in some people.
